35% Carbon Reduction in London Plan

As many of you know, Part L of the Building Regulations is due to be updated as of 15th June 2022. You can read more about that here.

It has now been confirmed that, despite the significant uplift in national standards, the GLA will still apply the 35% additional on-site carbon reduction on top of baseline Part L standards (DER v TER).

This is in conjunction with the GLA’s ambitions to make all developments in London Net Zero Carbon, after declaring a climate emergency.

Energy Statements will therefore still be required alongside the introduction of SAP 10

With the new Part L standards already requiring renewables, the specification required in order to comply is going to be incredibly strict. U-Values will start to resemble passive house standards & both heat pumps as well as Solar PV will need to be utilised.

As is the case with SAP Calculations, these new standards will only apply to projects that gain planning approval after June 15th 2022.
