THE BRIEF

We were instructed to complete a combination of L1B SAP Calculations, Sound Insulation Testing and Water Efficiency Calculations on this proposed conversion of an existing commercial space into two domestic flats
The Sound Insulation Tests consisted of Airborne Floor, Airborne Wall and Impact Floor Tests

To pass this Airborne test, you must score 45db or higher
Airborne tests measure the difference in sound levels between the receiver room and neighbouring walls or floors
If the sound output in the receiver room is 100db and the sound leakage being passed through into the neighbouring room is 40db, then the result would be 60 and therefore would be a pass
To pass this Impact tests, you must score 62db or lower
Impact tests measure how effectively the Sound Insulation between floors cancels out sound. If there is less than 62 decibels of sound leaking through into below floors then these tests would be a pass

After reviewing drawings, on site testing was ready to be completed. All calibrated equipment was setup in accordance to our strict procedures to ensure the most accurate result possible

The building's Sound Tests, particularly the Impact Floor and Airborne Wall Tests achieved extremely good scores which shows a very good level of Sound Insulation
We achieved a Water Efficiency Rate of 109.65 Litres per person per day, the Target being ≤ 110L
