Sound Testing & Air Testing in Fleckney

THE BRIEF

We were asked by a construction company to carry out a series of Mixed Testing for Sound Insulation Testing and Air Tightness for a pair of semi-detached properties in Fleckney
The Sound Tests were Airborne Wall tests

To pass an Airborne test for new build properties you must score 45db or higher
Airborne tests measure the difference in sound levels between the receiver room and neighbouring walls or floors
If the sound output in the receiver room is 100db and the sound leakage being passed through into the neighbouring room is 40db, then the result would be 60 and therefore would be a pass

THE PROCESS

After our technicians calculated the areas of the houses on site, testing was ready to be carried out. All calibrated equipment was setup in accordance to our strict procedures to ensure the most accurate result possible
The initial Air Tests we conducted highlighted issues. The engineer carried out leakage diagnostics with the customer and suggested the appropriate remedial works

The initial Air Tightness tests conducted showed the required standard was not achieved at 9.02 & 7.02 m³.h.m² @ 50pa
After rectifying and implementing recommendations to the problems we identified in our initial tests, the re-test scores improved at levels of 4.96 & 4.82 m³.h.m² @ 50pa which meets the Design Air Permeability requirement
This demonstrates that you can be rest assured that our expert advice can help you pass Air Tightness Testing, even if the initial tests fail
The plots achieved very good scores on the Airborne Wall Tests which shows very good levels of Sound Insulation
We achieved a Water Efficiency Rate of 108.24 Litres per person per day, the Target being ≤ 110L
